Robert Lachance is the Department of the Interior (DOI), Office of Law Enforcement and Security (OLES) National Training Coordinator located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) in Brunswick, Georgia since February 2017. In this position, Robert coordinates with the FLETC and the DOI bureaus on training requirements and related policy as well as coordinating the FLETA accredited DOI Investigator Training Program, as well as serving as a FLETA board member.
His prior experience was with the United States Park Police for 18 years, serving in a variety of assignments. His last position was as the USPP Partner Representative to the FLETC and commanding the USPP Training Academy located in Glynco, Georgia. His previous assignments included the Force Firearms Custodian, four years as the Commander of the SWAT, K9, and Honor Guard Units and two years as the Force Public Information Officer. While the Commander of the SWAT Unit he served as the Program Director for the CONTOMS (Counter Narcotics & Terrorism Operational Medical Support) tactical medical program that trains medical assets working with tactical police operations.
Captain Lachance is an Army veteran and holds a Master's Degree in Emergency Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Science, both from the University of Maryland, University College (UMUC). He also holds three martial arts black belts. He has been married 20 years to his wife Shannon and they have three children, Gabrielle, Emily and Lucien.
