U.S Department of Transportation Issues Final Rule to Streamline Process for Aspiring Truck and Bus Drivers

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced a final rule to streamline the process for men and women interested in entering the trucking workforce. The new rule will allow states to permit a third-party skills test examiner to administer the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) skills test to applicants to whom the examiner has also provided skills training.

U.S. Department of Transportation Sponsors Capitol Christmas Tree During Journey Across the United States

MONTROSE, Colo. – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today joined the 2020 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree’s journey from its origin in Uncompahgre National Forest in Colorado to the nation’s capital.  FMCSA’s on-the-ground team is working with local law enforcement to conduct a safety inspection of the commercial truck that will transport the 55-foot Engelmann spruce to its destination at the United States Capitol.    

FMCSA Declares New Jersey Truck Driver to be an Imminent Hazard

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared New Jersey-licensed commercial driver Quentin Campbell to be an imminent hazard to public safety, and in conjunction with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, has disqualified him from operating any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) for which a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required.  Campbell was served the federal order on October 15, 2020.

FMCSA Announces New Commercial Driver Panel to Provide Feedback on Critical CMV Issues and Initiatives

​​​​​​​WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrator (FMCSA) today announced it will be launching a new panel to its Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee (MCSAC) comprised of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers.  This new panel will provide direct feedback to FMCSA on important issues facing the driving community—such as safety, hours-of-service regulations, training, parking, and driver experience. 

FMCSA Proposes New Under-21 Commercial Driver Pilot Program

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced that it is proposing and seeking public comments on a new pilot program to allow drivers aged 18, 19, and 20 to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce.
