Coronavirus and USDA Service Centers Some USDA Service Centers in Pennsylvania will begin allowing in-person office visits by appointment only. Our program delivery staff will be in the office and work with our producers in person, by phone, by email, or by using other online tools. All Service Center visitors wishing to conduct business should call ahead to confirm the office’s status and make an appointment before visiting. Visitors will be pre-screened based on health concerns or recent travel and must adhere to social distancing guidelines. Visitors may also be required to wear a face covering during their appointment |
Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 Are you a farmer or rancher whose operation has been directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic? USDA is implementing Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 for agricultural producers who continue to face market disruptions and associated costs because of COVID-19. Farm Service Agency will accept CFAP 2 applications from September 21 through December 11, 2020. A call center will be available for producers who would like additional one-on-one support with the CFAP 2 application process. Please call 877-508-8364 to speak directly with a USDA employee ready to offer assistance. To find the latest information on CFAP 2, including forms and the contact information for your local Service Center, visit farmers.gov/CFAP. |

With over 7.8 million acres of farmland, 58,000 farms, and $1.9 billion in agriculture exports annually, Pennsylvania has a thriving and vibrant 'ag' industry. FSA County Offices located throughout the Commonwealth deliver a variety of congressionally authorized credit and commodity programs to all of Pennsylvania's farmers and producers. For fiscal year 2015, the Pennsylvania FSA provided over $113 million in farm assistance program and loan payments. Meet the State Executive Director
Gary Groves was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the State Executive Director of the Pennsylvania USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in November 2017.
Groves was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Indiana. He attended the Purdue University College of Agriculture, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science.
After graduating from Purdue, Groves worked as a district manager for the Ralston-Purina company in the Purina Chow division. He went on to work in an AO Smith Harvestore dealership in Ohio, and later Pennsylvania. He then did sales and management leadership training for Sales Acceleration in Indiana. Since then, he formed his own consulting firm focusing on leadership training and recruiting. During the George W. Bush administration, Groves was appointed state director for Pennsylvania USDA Rural Development.
Groves has served on the Governor’s Rural Advisory Committee for Pennsylvania and is a past director of the Pennsylvania Draft Horse Association. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Children’s Service Center, an organization for troubled children in Northeast Pennsylvania.
Groves currently resides on a farm in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, were he breeds Belgian draft horses and raises lambs and cattle for 4-H projects for his grandchildren.
Meet the State Committee
Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue recently announced the individuals who will serve on the Pennsylvania USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) state committee. The state committee is responsible for the oversight of farm programs and county committee operations, resolving appeals from the agriculture community, and helping to keep producers informed about FSA programs.
Each state committee has five members, one chairperson and four members. The individuals appointed to serve on this committee include:
