At its Thursday, December 3 meeting, the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) approved preliminary site development plans, with the exception of proposed changes to the garden’s reflecting pool and inner partition wall, submitted by the Smithsonian Institution to revitalize the Hirshhorn Museum’s Sculpture Garden.

NCPC Approves Final Plans for Arlington National Cemetery’s Southern Expansion

At its November 5 online meeting, the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) approved, with one exception, preliminary and final site and building plans submitted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in conjunction with Arlington National Cemetery, for the cemetery’s Southern Expansion project. The project will expand the cemetery to the south by 70 acres and incorporate the U.S. Air Force Memorial into its secure grounds. This south parcel formerly housed the Navy Annex Buildings and their parking lots.

It’s Only Just Begun: NCPC to Review First Foreign Missions Center Chancery Application

At its November meeting, the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) will review its first application for development at the Foreign Missions Center (FMC). The FMC, which is the second foreign mission enclave in the capital after the International Chancery Center, consists of approximately 30-acres of federally-owned land located at the site of the former Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, DC. The Department of State/Office of Foreign Missions (OFM) intends to develop the FMC as individual chancery sites leased to foreign governments.
