DMV Issues New Design for Licenses and State ID Cards

State of Rhode Island Driver's License

The DMV has begun to issue new style licenses and state identification cards at their Cranston and Woonsocket locations only, as of Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

By mid-August, all other branches, including AAA and online license renewals will also be issuing the new style licenses and state identification cards. All state identification cards, commercial driver’s licenses, and regular operator’s licenses will reflect this new design.

Existing active licenses and state identification cards will remain effective until their expiration date.
