A Collaborative National Center for Fusion & Plasma Research

Organization

  • It is the policy of Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory that the health and safety of the public, PPPL personnel, and on-site subcontractors, the preservation of the environment, and the protection of Laboratory property receive the highest consideration in all our work. Achieving excellence in this regard is facilitated through a comprehensive set of Environment, Safety, & Health (ES&H) directives that focus on the various activities undertaken at the Laboratory.

  • The PPPL Procurement Division purchases the goods and services needed to operate the Laboratory. Our staff has a diversity of backgrounds and a wealth of experience in the purchasing field. We promote excellence through continuous training and membership in professional groups such as the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) or the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) . We encourage our staff to seek and maintain professional certification through these organizations.

  • The transfer of technology to private industry, academic institutions, and other federal laboratories is one of the missions of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). As a technology resource, PPPL seeks to provide its unique expertise to solutions of industrial problems. PPPL has also endeavored to enhance its contact with area small businesses and to provide technological help and guidance where possible. In addition, PPPL participates in the U.S. Department of Energy Technology Partnership Ombuds Initiative.

  • The Harold P. Furth Plasma Physics Library is a branch of the Princeton University Libraries serving the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. The library focuses on materials in support of PPPL's research in the fields of plasma physics and controlled nuclear fusion.
  • PPPL Business Operations Department

The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) is operated by Princeton University under contract to the United States Department of Energy (USDOE).  PPPL is the only USDOE laboratory fully dedicated to the research and development of fusion as a safe and virtually inexhaustible energy alternative.
