EXIM provides financing solutions – including export credit insurance, working capital guarantees, and guarantees of commercial loans to foreign buyers – to empower exporters of U.S. goods and services. Our products have many uses, so whatever your need EXIM can find a solution that fits.

Am I Eligible to Work with EXIM

Before getting started it's important to know the basic requirements for working with EXIM. While it's always a good idea to call us with any questions about our policies, generally your business will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Been in business for at least three years
  • At least one person working in the firm full time
  • Has a positive net worth
  • Exports U.S. made products and/or services provided by U.S. workers (see content policy)
  • Has a Dun & Bradstreet Number

What We Do and Don’t Do

EXIM has a flexible and robust set of products and services, but there are certain things we can't take on due to regulations and other standards. Please take a look and see where we fit in the trade finance landscape.

We Do
  • Support trade transactions of U.S.-made goods and services
  • Provide export credit insurance for short-term and medium-term sales on secured or open account payment terms
    • FOR EXPORTERS:
      • Multi-Buyer policies
      • Single-Buyer policies
      • Policies for small businesses and environmental exporters
    • FOR LENDERS:
      • Supporting letters of credit
      • Supporting foreign buyer credits
  • Provide Pre-export working capital:
    • Direct loans to qualified small businesses
    • Loan guarantees to lenders
  • Provide foreign buyer loan guarantees to lenders for medium-term financing
  • Co-financing with other Export Credit Agencies
  • Supply chain financing support
  • Structured trade and project finance transactions
We Don't
  • Support military or defense-related sales
  • Provide grants
  • Support the import of goods and services
  • Support Start-ups sales
  • Support crude oil sales
  • Direct investment
  • Personal loans
  • Financing for the purchase of land
