Brazil: Energisa Metering Master Plan Technical Assistance

The Grantee invites submission of qualifications and proposal data (collectively referred to as the “Proposal”) from interested U.S. firms that are qualified on the basis of experience and capability to execute a Technical Assistance to improve service delivery and efficiency, as well as, develop a long-term metering master plan.
Project Background
The Metering Master Plan Technical Assistance will develop a roadmap and implementation plan for the deployment of advanced metering and associated telecommunications support technologies at Energisa’s eleven electric utilities located in eleven different states.
About the Grantee
Energisa is a 115-year-old, 14,000-employee energy holding company, publicly traded in Brazil and headquartered in Cataguases, Minas Gerais. It is the fifth-largest power distribution company in Brazil, serving approximately 7.8 million customers residing in 862 municipalities and spanning eleven states. It has extensive experience in distribution, transmission, and marketing, and providing integrated services and solutions for the electricity market.
About the Technical Assistance
The technical assistance will provide Energisa with a roadmap for how best to deploy and integrate advanced metering hardware, supporting telecommunications infrastructure, and data analytics solutions throughout the company’s utility network and affiliates. The technical assistance includes a regulatory framework assessment, to ensure the project fulfills the metering regulatory requirements of Brazil’s National Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL). The project is thereby expected to help the company to meet its objectives with respect to electricity loss reduction, system interoperability, reliability of supply, quality of service and customer satisfaction.
The U.S. firm selected will be paid in U.S. dollars from a $660,920 grant to the Grantee from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.
