Acquisition Services

Our goal is to help you stay on the cutting edge of research, technology, management, and other disciplines with the Bureau of Reclamation's mission. To this end, new books and other materials are continually being added to the library collection. We welcome your recommendations and suggestions for new acquisitions.

Electronic resources such as databases, journals, books, and other technical information may also be purchased for use in your office. The library staff will order, track and send the item to you on a permanent loan basis. The item will be processed and added to the online library catalog. This provides a record of all material and helps avoid duplicate purchases within Reclamation. Using the library acquisition service and taking advantage of our discounted buying power is strongly encouraged. Acquisition services are available to Bureau of Reclamation employees only, and require an 18-digit number and cost center for charge back purposes.

Interlibrary Loan Service
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service used to obtain information that is not available in our library such as books and articles. Materials necessary for study and research is borrowed through our world-wide resource-sharing network.

To request an interlibrary loan, complete an ILL request form with as much information as possible and return it to a member of the Library Services Team. Delivery time varies depending upon availability. Most items arrive within two weeks, however delivery time cannot be guaranteed.

Borrowers are encouraged to submit ILL requests well in advance of deadlines.

Loan periods for ILL items are set by the lending library with an average loan period being 1 month. There is a specific area for interlibrary loan pickup and return.
