Mechanistic Studies of Cardiovascular Effects of Botanicals

Conference Goals:

  • Assess the current state of research on the mechanisms of action responsible for the cardiovascular effect of several widely-used herbal dietary supplements, including garlic, ginkgo, hawthorn and phytoestrogens and the evidence for their clinical efficacy.
  • Develop recommendations to identify research opportunities and to discuss potential clinical use of botanicals.
  • Promote exchange of information and ideas, identify opportunities and foster collaboration among scientists who are interested in using botanicals in cardiovascular research.
