Biography

Dave Kaufman is a program director who joined the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in May of 2014, after working as an NHGRI ELSI grantee for several years. He oversees a portfolio of research grants that address the ethical legal and social implications of integrating of genomic information and technologies into clinical care, as well as issues of big data. Dr. Kaufman also focuses on stakeholder engagement studies. He participates in a variety of ELSI-related trans-NHGRI and trans-NIH initiatives and programs including a Citizen Science Working Group.

Dave received his B.A. in anthropology and biology from Oberlin College in 1990 and his Ph.D. in genetic epidemiology from Johns Hopkins in 2002.
