Women's Global Development and Prosperity
(W-GDP) Initiative

The White House W-GDP is the first whole-of-government effort to promote global women's economic empowerment through the work of the U.S. Government and in concert with local and national partners around the world.


Small Project Assistance (SPA) Program

Since 1983, the Peace Corps has partnered with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Small Project Assistance (SPA) Program to build capacity and empower local communities to lead in their own development.

The SPA Program supports small community-driven projects through grant projects, training activities, and in-field program support that addresses local needs across many sectors at over 40 Peace Corps posts around the world.

President's Malaria Initiative

The Peace Corps' Stomping Out Malaria in Africa program works in close collaboration with the President’s Malaria Initiative. Volunteers work to eliminate malaria, carrying out malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment education campaigns at the community level in 18 countries.

Global Food Security and Feed the Future

In partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development, Peace Corps Volunteers are supporting the President’s Feed the Future initiative by promoting sustainable methods for local people to assure their own food security through increased agricultural productivity, improved economic opportunity, and improved health and nutrition.

President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief

Through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Peace Corps Volunteers continue to implement PEPFAR’s Blueprint to an AIDS-free generation through the targeted goals of:

  • Scaling up prevention and treatment
  • Implementing evidence-based interventions for populations at greatest risk
  • Promoting sustainability, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Strengthening local health care and support systems
  • Driving results with science
