Information for Collectors

Numismatics is the study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects. The BEP hopes that people with an interest in numismatics will find the following information useful as they discover and explore the world of money.

Appraising Currency

The BEP, as part of the Department of the Treasury, does not appraise or estimate numismatic values. We suggest you contact several dealers in old or rare currencies for an opinion. Dealers' names are likely to be found online. You may also refer to numismatic publications, which contain pictures of the various notes and list suggested prices.

Collecting Currency Products

Whether you have a budding or established currency collection, or are looking for a special gift, the BEP has a wide array of currency products for sale in our online store. Shop now for uncut currency sheets, intaglio prints, prosperity notes, premium currency sets, and more.
