Effective October 19, 2020
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announces increases to sablefish trip limits for vessels in the limited entry fixed gear and open access fisheries north of 36° North latitude. These adjustments are effective on October 19, 2020, through the end of 2020, unless subsequently modified via the Federal Register.
NMFS also announces an increase in incidental landing limits for Pacific halibut in the limited entry fixed gear sablefish primary fishery for vessels fishing north of Point Chehalis, Washington. These adjustments are also effective on October 19, 2020, through the end of the 2020 sablefish primary season, unless subsequently modified via the Federal Register.
Specifics on all of these changes can be viewed in the regulations at the end of the Federal Register notice. The Federal Register notice implementing these adjustments will publish on October 19, 2020.
These adjustments were recommended to NMFS by the Pacific Fishery Management Council at its September 2020 meeting.
