Partnering through Open Innovation

Extraordinary scientific and engineering capabilities and talented staff make Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory a wellspring of innovation. Nonetheless, as Joy’s Law states, “No matter who you are, most of the smartest people work for someone else.” In response, the Laboratory practices Open Innovation by connecting with new partners and embracing new approaches. The Laboratory seeks partnerships with industry, government agencies, universities, and non-governmental organizations to cultivate entrepreneurship, help the nation grow, and meet national and global security challenges.

To help catalyze Open Innovation, we encourage researchers to work with us here at the Laboratory. Lawrence Livermore's institutes and centers provide specialized resources and expertise in many scientific disciplines. In addition, our user facilities provide world-class, one-of-a-kind capabilities to the broader scientific community.

We are also searching for opportunities to loan our staff to institutions around the world to help solve problems of global significance. A more mobile, open Laboratory helps us respond rapidly to the security challenges of a deeply interconnected world.
