A new tool has been added to the suite of direct-push applications offered by the Public Works Center (PWC) San Diego and PWC Norfolk. The device, called a “highresolution piezocone” has numerous applications in the environmental and construction fields. The piezocone uses pore pressure measurements to determine water table elevation. It is capable of generating highly resolved hydraulic head values (i.e. plus or minus 1-inch of water level) while simultaneously collecting critical soil type information. In addition, it provides the user with conventional soil classification data.
