In March 2003, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and related OIG responsibilities, were transferred from the Department of Transportation to the new Department of Homeland Security created by the Homeland Security Act of 2002. After transfer, TSA became subject to oversight by the DHS Office of Inspector General.
