Thank you for your interest in joining the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of Inspector General (OIG). In 2018, DOT OIG ranked in the top 10% of the best places to work in the Federal government out of 420 agency subcomponents on the Partnership for Public Service's Best Places to Work in the Federal Government list.

At the Office of Inspector General, we support the Congress, the Department, and the public in achieving a safe, efficient, and effective transportation system. The OIG is charged by Congress with providing programmatic oversight and advice to DOT. Its legislative mandate also includes investigating allegations of fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement. The OIG staff includes Auditors, Analysts, Attorneys, Special Agents, Computer Scientists, Economists, and experts in many other disciplines. OIG results are used by DOT, Congress, and the Administration in setting policy improving operations.

If you are ready for a rewarding career, then we encourage you to apply for a position with the OIG. We are seeking motivated, committed, and competent individuals who have succeeded academically and/or accumulated relevant work experience. We encourage recruits with any college major to strongly consider a position with the OIG.
