Sustainable research funding New Opportunity to Compensate for Co2 Emissions

(15.12.20) The DFG is making a further contribution to greater sustainability within its research work and in the research projects it funds. In future it will be possible for compensation payments to be made in relation to all CO2 emissions arising due to business trips undertaken due to funding projects and by DFG staff, members of statutory bodies and reviewers. New information portal "GEPRIS Historisch"

(14.12.20) “GEPRIS Historisch” is the DFG’s information portal about the history of the DFG and of research between 1920 and 1945. Initial funding decisions Focus Funding on the Coronavirus

(07.12.20) The DFG has made its first decisions in the new COVID-19 Focus Funding instrument. These decisions will enable 33 projects to immediately begin research on immunity, host susceptibility and pathomechanisms of infection with SARS-CoV-2. A total of €3.6 million will be provided for a maximum of one year, including a programme allowance for indirect project costs. Interner Linkmore

(03.12.20) The most promising vaccine to date in combating the coronavirus shows the long-term value of basic research and its support by the DFG. The mRNA vaccine platform developed by the company BioNTech traces back to preliminary work undertaken in an earlier Collaborative Research Centre in Mainz that was conducting research into cancer.
