Medicaid Autism Waiver
Medicaid is holding an open enrollment period, October 1 - October 31, for the Autism Waiver program. The program provides in-home services to children, ages 2 through 5, who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The pilot program runs through June 2014 and will serve approximately 200 children. To apply, click on the link below:

The Cost of Financial Exploitation of Elder Adults
Exploiting Utah Seniors is estimated to cost up to $1 million daily and potentially costs Medicaid $7.5 million annually.. The majority of this fraud is perpetrated by their children and grandchildren. Theft of Medicaid Claims and Eligibility Data - Protect Your Information
On Friday, March 30, 2012, computer hackers illegally gained access to a Utah Department of Technology Services (DTS) computer server that stores Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) data. The security breach was detected on Monday, April 2 and the server was immediately shut down.

If you are a victim of this data breach, you will receive a letter from Utah Department of Health. Please be aware, representatives from Utah Department of Health or DTS will not be contacting you by phone or email; however, scammers may attempt to reach you in this manner. We strongly recommend that you do not provide private information in response to telephone or email contacts.

If you believe you may have been a victim:
* Call the data breach hotline, 1-855-238-3339 (English and Spanish speaking options available) to find out if your information was compromised
* Go to www.health.utah.gov/databreach for information about the data breach and resources to assist you in protecting your identification
* Freeze your credit and place a fraud alert on your personal credit file - for information on how to do this, go to www.idtheft.utah.gov
* Contact your Department of Human Services' caseworker/representative


Utah State Developmental Center Survey

In September 2011, Palmer DePaulis, Executive Director, Department of Human Services, chartered a Strategic Planning Committee to develop recommendations for the future direction and mission of the Utah State Developmental Center (USDC). The Committee was composed of individuals representing various constituencies of the disability community. They worked diligently to tackle difficult issues and developed a set of comprehensive and exciting draft recommendations.
