The Mu2e prototype magnet coil underwent testing in the Central Helium Liquifier. Mu2e will look for signs that muons convert into electrons.

Fermilab's accelerators are now powered by a different source, but for more than 40 years the Cockcroft-Walton generators helped provide beam to experiments. The lab switched to running radio-frequency quadrupoles in 2012. #science #physics
This is the interior of the 35-ton prototype, a step on our way to the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment. @cern is housing the next set of prototypes, and the final detectors will be constructed in South Dakota. They'll receive a neutrino beam created at Fermilab.
