Our Inspector General
Independent and objective oversight - Protecting the integrity of our programs

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office within the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) dedicated to promoting accountability and transparency both within and outside of the agency.  Its mission is to provide independent and objective oversight of OPM services and programs by conducting audits, investigations, and evaluations.  The OIG provides recommendations to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of OPM’s operations.

Norbert E. Vint was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in July 2006. Upon the retirement of former Inspector General Patrick E. McFarland, Mr. Vint became Deputy Inspector General Performing the Duties of the Inspector General in February 2016 to the present.

On October 26, 2017, President Donald J. Trump issues a Presidential Memorandum instructing Federal agencies to combat the opioid epidemic.  Our investigative staff is committed to safeguarding FEHBP enrollees and the financial integrity of the taxpayer’s funded trust fund from the devastation impact of this crisis.
