To help you stay current after receiving a HAMP modification, mortgage companies/lenders in the Home Affordable Modification ProgramSM (HAMP®) offer new HAMP homeowners–and those in HAMP who are having difficulty–access to free financial counseling. If you're new to HAMP or having a tough time keeping up with your payments, reach out to your mortgage company for more information about working with a HUD-approved housing counseling agency to get free expert advice and guidance.

Other Options

If you're having difficulty keeping up with your mortgage payments due to difficult economic conditions or adverse personal circumstances, there are other options under Making Home Affordable (MHA) that could provide a solution.

Hardest Hit Fund® (HHF)

If you live in a state that is participating in Treasury's HHFSM Program, additional assistance may be available via the state's Housing Finance Agency.
