            The Curator

The mission of the Office of the Curator is to preserve the cultural resources of the Treasury Building and Treasury Annex for the enjoyment of the public, Treasury employees, and future generations​.

The Office of the Curator provides:  

  • Preservation and technical guidance for the restoration and preservation of the Treasury Building and the Annex (National Historic Landmarks) in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act and the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. 
  • Museum-quality care and management for one of the most significant federal collections of fine and decorative arts.
  • Experiences for the public and Treasury employees to enjoy this historic building and its collections through the tour program, exhibitions and other educational opportunities.
  • Virtual Tours
    Tour restored spaces in the Treasury Building, a National Historic Landmark.
  • Building Tours
    Tours of the Main Treasury Building are conducted on Saturdays with advance reservations made through Congressional offices.
  • Online Exhibitions 
    Learn about the Treasury building's architectural evolution from the initial construction to its most recent restoration projects.
  • Collections
    The Treasury Collection is composed of paintings, prints and photographs, furniture, decorative arts, sculpture, and architectural fragments. Learn about the Secretary of the Treasury portraits and much more.
