IPR Center, Amazon launch ‘Operation Fulfilled Action’ to stop counterfeits
WASHINGTON – The U.S. government’s National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center) and Amazon today announced the launch of a joint operation to prevent counterfeit goods from entering the U.S. and help protect American consumers. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and DHL are also supporting the operation.

Online fraud skyrockets, consumers warned to beware
The need to protect consumers from fraud has escalated in the wake of COVID-19, prompting warnings from Homeland Security Investigations’ Global Trade Investigations Division (GTID). Steve Francis, assistant director of GTID who also serves as the director of the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, is warning consumers to beware. He’s published an article jointly with Underwriters Laboratories, entitled “The Hidden Dangers of Counterfeits,” as part of their Be Safe, Buy Real campaign.

Illicit cigarettes seized in black market probe worth nearly $5M
CARTAGENA, Colombia – Homeland Security Investigations–Cartagena, working cooperatively with Colombian authorities, have seized more than two million packs of cigarettes worth nearly $2.3 million as part of an ongoing joint investigation of counterfeit cigarettes believed to be part of an illegal trade of black-market tobacco.
