Hurricane & disaster information
FCA encourages Farm Credit System institutions to work with borrowers affected by pandemics, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. System institutions have considerable flexibility under FCA regulations to provide disaster relief to borrowers. For example, they may
- extend the terms of loan repayments,
- restructure borrowers’ debt obligations, or
- ease some loan documentation or credit-extension terms for new loans to certain borrowers.
The agency recognizes that disasters may also impair the ability of institutions to comply in a timely way with regulatory or reporting requirements. Contact Roger Paulsen, FCA’s chief examiner and the director of the Office of Examination, at 703-883-4265 if your institution needs relief from these requirements.
For more information, see the board policy statement Disaster Relief Efforts by Farm Credit Institutions (Word), which took effect in July 2011.
