About CCMC
The Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC) is a multi-agency partnership. The CCMC provides, to the international research community, access to modern space science simulations. In addition, the CCMC supports the transition to space weather operations of modern space research models.
We provide, to the scientific community, access to modern space research models
- through an automated request system for model runs
- through modern, online, visualization and analysis tools
- through standard data formats for simulation data downloads
We test and evaluate models
- as an unbiased agent
- against standard metrics
- through event studies, and through real-time calculations
- in support of the needs of science users and space weather forecasters
We support Space Weather forecasters
- through transitioning of research models to operations
- through model evaluations
- through the provisions of forecasting tools
We support space science education
- by training and hosting student interns
- by providing yearly space weather training to the space science community
- through the provision of simulations in support of classroom programs
The CCMC is situated at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The CCMC team consists of NASA civil servants, contractors and postdoctoral fellows.
