The Global Volcanism Program database currently contains 1238 volcanoes thought to have been active during the Pleistocene period (approximately the last 2.5 million years); volcanoes active in the past approximately 10,000 years are on the Holocene list and are not duplicated here. Pleistocene names are not included in the Database Search function of the website. This list has not undergone the many years of review and updating that the Holocene list has been subject to, so should be considered preliminary, and may include incomplete or incorrect data. Additions and corrections, with references, are always welcome (see Contact GVP at the bottom of the page). Also note that GVP does not provide eruption histories for Pleistocene volcanoes; large magnitude eruptions (VEI >= 4) may be found in the LaMEVE database, linked from each volcano.

Clicking the Download Pleistocene Volcano file button will initiate a direct download. Depending on your personal settings, it may save to your local drive or open in your default application. The XML file produces a warning when opening, but will be read properly by Excel; other spreadsheet software may not be compatible.
