Partnering for America
LLNL is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored the Department of Energy (DOE), specifically the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). As such, we work in the public interest and operate as strategic partners with the DOE to ensure the highest level of objectivity and technical excellence.
Within the scope of National Security, we regularly work with other federal agencies to help meet national needs, such as the DOE's Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation , Department of Homeland Security , and Department of Defense . We also have other sponsors focused on basic science, such as the DOE's Office of Science , DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy , NASA , National Institutes of Health and Environmental Protection Agency .
