The ODP Strategic Plan FY 2019-2023, Prevention Research: Building a Healthier Future (PDF) includes six strategic priorities that will guide the activities of the Office over the next 5 years. The priorities are interconnected, allowing each area to leverage staff expertise and build upon prevention related resources, tools, and initiatives developed across the ODP.
Spotlight on 2019
We are excited to share our Spotlight on 2019 report highlighting a few of the ODP's accomplishments last year. The report summarizes key projects related to each of the ODP’s six strategic priorities and outlines how they impact public health.
Cross-Cutting Themes
These cross-cutting themes (PDF) represent areas of opportunity for the ODP to serve as a catalyst for developing, coordinating, and implementing new activities and to better integrate disease prevention into trans-NIH initiatives.
- Leading causes and risk factors for premature morbidity and mortality
- Health disparities
- Dissemination and implementation research.
Strategic Priorities
The priorities represent the breadth of ODP activities and allow for emerging areas of opportunity to be incorporated into Office activities. It is anticipated that outcomes associated with each objective will contribute to the overall success of the Office in achieving its vision.
Connections to the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan
The ODP is committed to working closely with NIH colleagues, as well as other federal and non-federal partners to advance NIH’s health promotion and disease prevention efforts (PDF) highlighted in the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan, Fiscal Years 2016–2020.
