Our Workplace Resolution program is focused on ensuring equal opportunity through the EEO process, providing reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities so they may perform the essential functions of their jobs, and proactively resolving conflict through mediation.

Equal Employment Guidelines

To create and maintain a model workplace, the NCUA offers neutral EEO and conflict resolution. Any NCUA employee, former employee, or applicant for an NCUA position may file a complaint of discrimination.

NCUA policy and EEO laws prohibit discrimination based on:

  • Race;
  • Color;
  • Religion;
  • Sex (including pregnancy);
  • National origin;
  • Disability (physical and/or mental);
  • Age (40 years or older);
  • Sexual orientation;
  • Genetic information (information about an individual's genetic tests; or information about the genetic tests, or the manifestation of a disease or disorder in the individual's family members);
  • Parental status;
  • Gender identity or expression (a gender-related identity, appearance, expression, or behavior of an individual regardless of the individual's assigned sex at birth); and
  • Retaliation (for participating in the EEO complaint process or opposing discriminatory practices).

To file a complaint, you must contact the EEO office within 45 calendar days of the employment action or event you believe is discriminatory.

If you have any questions, or require further assistance regarding the EEO counseling process, please contact the EEO Counseling Hotline at 703.518.6325.

Formal EEO complaints may only be filed within 15 calendar days following the conclusion of EEO counseling and receipt of the Notice of Right to File a Formal Complaint. The formal complaint may contain only those allegations that were presented to the EEO Counselor.

Reasonable Accommodations

The NCUA is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to its employees and applicants for employment in order to assure that individuals with disabilities enjoy full access to equal employment opportunity at the agency. The NCUA will provide reasonable accommodations:

  • When an applicant with a disability needs an accommodation in order to be considered for a job;
  • When an employee with a disability needs an accommodation to enable him or her to perform the essential functions of the job at an acceptable level or to gain access to the workplace; and
  • When an employee with a disability needs an accommodation to enjoy equal benefits and privileges of employment.

The NCUA will process requests for reasonable accommodation and, where appropriate, provide reasonable accommodations in a prompt, fair, and efficient manner.
