In memoriam
Professor Howard Raiffa, whose work and personality inspired many at the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis, passed away July 8, 2016 at age 92. Howard was a primary developer and promoter of decision analysis, game theory, and negotiation analysis. Much of his work emphasized application of logical analysis and subjective probability to real-world problems of decision making under uncertainty. Among many honors, he was co-recipient of the first Distinguished Achievement Award of the Society for Risk Analysis (1984). His influence on HCRA was fundamental; he was a mentor to founding director John Graham and current director James Hammitt. Read more from Harvard here and here.
