As Virginia begins to see extreme cold temperatures and winter weather, Attorney General Mark R. Herring and his first-in-the-nation Animal Law Unit are reminding Virginia pet owners and law enforcement that animals cannot be left out in the cold without adequate shelter and care, and that there can be serious legal consequences, including criminal charges of animal cruelty, if an animal is left in the cold without adequate shelter.

December 15 - Herring Expands Work to Combat Human Trafficking in Hampton Roads Attorney General Mark R. Herring has secured $525,000 in federal grant funding to continue the work of the Hampton Roads Human Trafficking Task Force (HRHTTF) for at least three more years and allow the Task Force to expand into new localities, including the city of Williamsburg, the town of Smithfield, and Mathews, Accomack, and Northampton Counties.
