VASA formed in 2005 in order to improve communication, networking, and interaction among statisticians within the VA. Any VA-affiliated statistician is encouraged to join the group by sending their contact information and affiliation. Similarly, VASA welcomes ideas, suggestions, and involvement of its members (23 KB, Excel) regarding its activities, website content, or other topics. Please send contact information, affiliation, and all comments to Janella.Shu@va.gov.
For more on VASA's activities, the following links will provide information on its members' involvement in various statistical conferences and meetings in 2012:

Authorship Guidelines
Fellow VA Statisticians,
authorship guidelines for statisticians and non-faculty personnel have been topics of discussion lately, as has successful presentation and discussion. Some journals have checklists for authorship, which seems to be a worthy guideline. Please see the Parker and Berman paper here (6.8 MB, PDF), which is a VASA-endorsed article, featuring a point system for guideline determinations. It may be of use to some of you who are facing the above issues, or perhaps a point of reference or an informational tool for others of you. Feel free to email me at Rene.Rigoroso@va.gov for more information.
