Physical Techniques Division
T-shirts, gym shorts, sweat suits, supporters, athletic bras, socks,and towels are provided by the Center for student use during physical training classes. These uniforms are required while participating in physical activities in the Physical Techniques Complex including after-hour activities. Students are held accountable for missing items. Since athletic shoes are not available from the Center for student use, each student should bring his/her own athletic footwear (running/courtshoes). Running shoes and athletic shoes used for street wear will not be allowed on the basketball or handball courts. These athletic surfaces require the use of shoes specifically designed for use on courts. Therefore, two pairs of athletic shoes are required -- one pair for outdoor activities and one pair for indoor use.
Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB)
Several Basic and Advanced programs are required to participate in the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB). The PEB consists of five physical fitness items that are performed during a single physical fitness evaluation session. The PEB measures body fat (skin fold technique), flexibility (sit and reach test), speed and agility (Illinois agility test), upper body strength (bench press), and aerobic capacity (1.5 mile run).
In order to participate in the PEB, students must bring a pair of running and court (tennis) shoes. Running shoes are appropriate for the 1.5 mile run, but they do not provide adequate support during lateral movement; therefore, students who do not have court shoes will not be allowed to complete the agility run.
Firearms Division
If your blood pressure is higher than 140/90, consult your doctor. It must be under control at the time of admission or you might be withdrawn from training. This pertains to all courses requiring firearms training. Please be sure to review the Physical Performance Requirements in this bulletin.
Firearms Training Equipment Requirements
- FIRTP – Firearms Instructor Refresher Training Program
Students are encouraged to bring their issued semiautomatic pistol, issued leather gear and a minimum of 3 magazines; ammunition will be provided. FLETC uniforms will be provided*. - FITP – Firearms Instructor Training Program
Students are encouraged to bring their issued semiautomatic pistol, issued leather gear and a minimum of 3 magazines; ammunition will be provided. FLETC uniforms will be provided*. - ITNTA – Instructor Techniques for Non-lethal Training Ammunition
Students are encouraged to bring their issued leather gear, ballistic vest and a “protective cup.” It is not necessary to bring duty weapons because the FLETC will provide them and leather gear, as needed. FLETC uniforms will be provided*; however, students can wear personal navy-blue BDUs. Students should wear “service-type” boots or shoes. - LERTP – Law Enforcement Rifle Training Program
All equipment, uniforms and ammunition are provided*. Students should wear “service-type” boots or shoes. Individual eye and hearing protection is permitted. - APITP – Advanced Pistol Instructor Training Program
Students are encouraged to bring their issued semiautomatic pistol, issued leather gear and a minimum of 5 magazines; ammunition will be provided. FLETC uniforms will be provided. Students should wear “service-type” boots or shoes. Individual eye and hearing protection is permitted. Weapon cleaning gear is provided. - APTP – Advanced Pistol Training Program
Students are encouraged to bring their issued semiautomatic pistol, issued leather gear (standard and concealed-duty carry) and a minimum of 3 magazines; ammunition will be provided. FLETC uniforms will be provided; however, personal black or dark blue BDUs are allowed. - AIM – Advanced Instruction for Marksmanship
Students are encourage to bring their issued semiautomatic pistol, issued duty belt or holster and magazine pouch and a minimum of 3 magazines (5 magazines for single stack). You will need to dress in appropriate attire for range activities for each day of training.

Weapons Storage
Students and staff are not allowed to carry or possess their weapons while at the Center. Weapons must be checked in at Building 1 (Main Gate) upon arrival at the Center and picked up after graduation. If participating organizations require, special arrangements will be made to permit students to fire their own weapons during advanced training, however, they must be stored in Building 221 when not used for this training.
NOTE: FOR CENTER PURPOSES, a weapon is defined as any operable or inoperable firearms to include: Revolvers, Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns, Automatic Weapons, Air Rifles, BB/Pellet and Cap guns or any device capable of propelling darts or arrows, such as operable bows, compound bows and cross bows.
Driver & Marine Division
Operation of Government Vehicles
ALL STUDENTS participating in any exercise requiring the operation of a government vehicle, must carry in their possession and present upon request by an instructor or other FLETC official, their valid state driver’s license. Anyone found to have a revoked, suspended or expired driver’s license will not be allowed to participate in any exercise requiring the operation of a government vehicle and will be considered to have failed to meet the requirements for graduation from the training program being attended. Anyone knowingly participating in Driver Training with no current valid license, or with a suspended or revoked license may be subject to disciplinary action. There are no exceptions to this policy.
ALL STUDENTS participating in any exercise requiring the operationof a government vehicle, must operate the vehicle within all applicable federal and state laws governing the use of motor vehicles, both on and off the FLETC facility. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Marine Law Enforcement Training
Marine Law Enforcement Training and Advanced Marine Law Enforcement Training Program students should bring the following items: a wool knit cap for winter classes and a baseball cap for summer classes; gloves, sun glasses, sunscreen and boat shoes.
Investigative Operations Division
The Investigative Operations Division maintains an after-hours computer laboratory in Room 106 in Building 212 specifically for student use.
The lab is equipped with appropriate software including Microsoft Office and provides internet access.

The lab is open Monday – Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., closed Friday and Saturday, and open Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00p.m. Closed holidays.
