Uruguay is currently our 79th largest goods trading partner with $2.1 billion in total (two way) goods trade during 2019. Goods exports totaled $1.6 billion; goods imports totaled $519 million. The U.S. goods trade surplus with Uruguay was $1.1 billion in 2019.

  • The top import categories (2-digit HS) in 2019 were: meat (beef) ($211 million), wood and wood products ($54 million), prepared meat and fish (prepare or preserved meat) ($51 million), optical and medical instruments ($45 million), and edible fruit & nuts (citrus, fresh, dried)  ($31 million).
  • U.S. total imports of agricultural products from Uruguay totaled $339 million in 2019. Leading categories include: red meats, fresh, frozen, or chilled ($210 million), red meats, prepared or preserved ($52 million), other fresh fruit ($31 million), essential oils ($14 million), and planting seeds ($8 million).
