Purpose
The 2007 Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway Study sets out observations and key considerations for continuing the success of this productive, safe and reliable waterway in a cost-effective, efficient, and sustainable manner. The study describes the crucial role of the waterway, a resource that flows directly across two provinces and eight states, situated at the axis of the world's largest binational trading relationship between the United States and Canada. The study captures a common determination for the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway as a sustainable and optimized system for the future movement of goods.
