The U.S. Radiologic Technologists (USRT) cohort is a study of cancer and other serious disease risks associated with protracted low-to-moderate dose radiation exposures in an occupationally exposed cohort.

The Clinical Genetics Branch studies families with dyskeratosis congenita (DC), a rare and complex inherited cancer predisposition syndrome.

DCEG research is carried out among a variety of cohorts, cancer cases, and families.

  • Cases and Controls

    Comparisons of two groups of people: those with the cancer under study (cases) and a very similar group of people who do not have the cancer (controls).

  • Cohorts

    Studies of defined populations that are observed over time, either prospectively or retrospectively.

  • Families

    Study of cancer risk among families in which disease occurs at a higher rate than in the "general population".
