The purpose of this website is to provide up-to-date EIS-related information to the public and other interested parties. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and the Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA), the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), Western Region (WR), Denver, Colorado, and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MT DEQ) have prepared an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) which analyzes and discloses the environmental impacts of the proposed action to permit the operation and reclamation of the proposed Area F expansion of the Rosebud Coal Mine. OSMRE has prepared the ROD to inform the public of the alternative selected by the agency per the requirements of NEPA.

Available ROD

OSMRE and MT DEQ have prepared a ROD based on the analysis in the Final EIS for proposed surface mining operations in Federal Coal Lease M82186 at the Rosebud Mine. An electronic version of the ROD can be found in the Document Library.
