Partnerships with Federal Councils
In order to meet the future challenges of the Federal Government and public service, the Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program provides a continuous source of men and women with advanced degrees. Federal Councils consist of collaborating officials from various Federal Agencies, who operate with the mission and vision to support and improve processes government-wide. Finalists in the PMF Program who come from a variety of academic disciplines and have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs, make ideal candidates for these Federal Councils.
Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council
The Chief Financial Officers Council was established under the provisions of the CFO Act of 1990 to "advise and coordinate the activities of the agencies of its members on such matters as consolidation and modernization of financial systems, improved quality of financial information, financial data and information standards, internal controls, legislation affecting financial operations and organizations, and any other financial management matter." CFOs and Deputy CFOs of the largest Federal Agencies along with senior officials from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury collaborate together, in order to improve financial management across the board in the Federal Government. Chief Acquisition Officers (CAO) Council
The Chief Acquisition Officers Council was established pursuant to Section 16 of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy Act, as amended, 41 USC 403, et seq. The Council is made up of acquisition professionals in the Executive Branch with the purpose of providing a senior level forum for monitoring and improving the Federal acquisition system. Federal Privacy Council
The Federal Privacy Council was established by Executive Order 13719 on February 9, 2016, as an interagency forum made up of privacy professionals from Federal agencies within the Executive Branch. The purpose of the Council is to provide leadership, promote collaboration between agencies and stakeholders, improve Federal Government privacy practices, ensure effective and consistent implementation of privacy policy, and expand the skill and career development opportunities of privacy professionals.
The Council is working in partnership with OPM's Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program Office to establish a privacy discipline to recruit talented and qualified privacy professionals into the Federal workforce. Federal agencies will be able to select interested applicants from the PMF Program's Finalists' pool, and these eligible Finalists will be able to gain valuable experience working on the complex challenges facing the Federal Government privacy community.
