Greetings from all of us at the U.S. AbilityOne Commission. We’re committed to a world where every person who is blind or has a significant disability is able to achieve his or her maximum employment potential. Our focus is on making the most of the AbilityOne Program, and creating job opportunities for people who are blind or have significant disabilities.
We’re proud of the success and growth of the AbilityOne Program, from the passage of the Wagner-O’Day Act in 1938 to the broadening of the Act in 1971, when it became the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act , and right up until the present day. Today, more than 45,000 people who are blind or have significant disabilities are employed through the AbilityOne Program’s national network of more than 550 nonprofit agencies.
