Post Journal (December 16) Campaign To Raise Awareness On Senior Resources Chautauqua County Office for the Aging is excited to participate in the 2019 “Home for the Holidays” campaign, led by the Eldercare Locator, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) and the U.S. Administration for Community Living in partnership with the University of Southern California’s Leonard Davis School of Gerontology.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Community Living and Office for Civil Rights held a celebration of a historic victory for inclusion and community living at the Barbara Jordan Conference Center in Washington, DC (near Metro Center).

Every October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) offers an opportunity to celebrate the many contributions of America's workers with disabilities. This year's theme is "America's Workforce: Empowering All."

Veterans representing multiple service branches joined leaders from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Virginia’s health and human resources agencies in Mechanicsville, VA to discuss the Veteran-Directed Home and Community Based Services (VD-HCBS) program, an innovative program that helps disabled veterans live in their own homes, rather than in nursing homes.

Each year, an estimated 5 million older adults are abused, neglected, or exploited. Older Americans lose an estimated $2.6 billion or more annually due to elder financial abuse and exploitation, funds that could be used to pay for basic needs such as housing, food, and medical care.

Each May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads our nation’s celebration of Older Americans Month (OAM). ACL designed the 2017 OAM theme, Age Out Loud, to give aging a new voice—one that reflects what today’s older adults have to say.
