Resources

This section contains a variety of resources beneficial to credit unions either from NCUA or external sources.

What’s in Our Resource Guides?

We produce different types of written publications including guidebooks, strategy guides and implementation guides.

  • Guidebooks do just that, provide general guidance
  • Strategy guides share ideas and strategies for expanding operations
  • Implementation guides shed light on things to consider as you start up a new service, policy or program

Although based on current regulations as of their publication date, these resources are not regulations. These guides are designed to educate, stimulate ideas and provide guidance. They are current as of their publication date and should not be used in place of official regulatory policies.

What is CDFI?

Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) is the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s recognition of specialized financial institutions serving low-income communities. Credit unions that are certified as CDFIs are eligible to apply for technical assistance and financial assistance awards from the CDFI Fund, as well as training provided through its Capacity Building Initiative.

NCUA partnered with CDFI to streamline the certification process. For more information of the certification process and additional resources, refer to our NCUA-CDFI Certification Initiative page.
