These loan programs are for schools and educational institutions only.
We fund schools so they can offer their students loans to pursue a health professions degree.
Students then deliver health care to people who lack access to primary health care services.
Which loan programs do we offer?
We offer four loan programs. Each program offers long-term, low interest loans to students who need them.
Health Professions Student Loans (HPSL)
Students can be going to school full- or part-time. They must be pursuing one of these degrees:
- Doctor of Dentistry
- Bachelor or Doctor of Science in Pharmacy
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
- Doctor of Optometry
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Is my school eligible for the HPSL?
Your school is eligible if it offers degrees in one of these disciplines:
- Podiatry
- Dentistry
- Optometry
- Pharmacy
- Veterinary

Nursing Student Loans (NSL)
Students must be pursuing a diploma full-time. Their diploma must result in
- An associate degree
- A baccalaureate degree
- A graduate degree

Primary Care Loans (PCL)
Students must pursue a doctoral degree full-time in either
- Allopathic medicine; or
- Osteopathic medicine.

Can we help students pay off other loans?
You may increase loans to 3rd and 4th year students. They can use this to repay outstanding balances on other loans they’ve taken out while attending your school.
What do you require of students who receive a primary care loan?
Students must
- Enter and complete residency training in primary care within four years after they graduate.
- Practice primary care for ten years or until they pay off the loan in full, whichever occurs first.
