The Office of Organizational Excellence drives quality, safety and integrity in the Veterans Health Administration. These components are critical to assuring that Veterans receive the best care possible, at the right time in the right place.
The VHA Code of Integrity
The VHA Code of Integrity underscores the unique role VHA staff play in Veterans' care. Centered around VA's ICARE values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect and Excellence, the Code provides high-level guidance regarding VHA's expectations for how VHA staff work together, provide care to Veterans, conduct research, maintain financial records, protect assets, and serve as government employees. In addition, the Code ensures all employees (and Veterans) feel empowered to provide firsthand accounts of their experiences. These accounts allow VHA staff to identify problems early on and rectify them. Whether it's a matter of quality, patient safety, patient privacy, or an issue related to fraud, waste and abuse, the Code protects all employees in stepping forward.
