Currently, NLM is not updating the Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC) website, and is limiting updates to the Disaster Lit database to COVID-19 related data collection tools found in the DR2. We are no longer adding links to other new disaster-related information. The content of select resources from Disaster Lit will be digitized and made available through Digital Collections and Bookshelf.

About the Disaster Information Specialist Program

 

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) Disaster Information Specialist Program promotes the role of information specialists in the provision of disaster-related health information resources. The Program facilitates a network of information professionals and librarians ready to take on the role of "information responder" in their communities and organizations. It provides opportunities to enhance skills in supporting the disaster workforce through training classes, monthly webinars, and connections with others of similar interests.

 

Training and Continuing Education (CE)

NLM Disaster Health offers free online training courses on accessing and using disaster health information, which can be taken for CE credit. See our training course page for a complete list of courses with descriptions. 

The Medical Library Association (MLA) offers an MLA Disaster Information Specialization which is a mechanism for earning MLA continuing education credits and a certificate of achievement.
