Who We Are

The NCI at Frederick and the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research together comprise a community of more than 3,000 government and contractor staff of biomedical researchers, laboratory technicians, business professionals, and others.

The NCI Campus at Frederick is adjacent to the Fort Detrick military complex in Frederick, Md., 40 miles northwest of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. The Frederick National Laboratory is headquartered across Frederick at Riverside Research Park, with additional laboratories and offices nearby and around the world.

NCI at Frederick At a Glance

NCI at Frederick houses one-third of the NCI's Center for Cancer Research, along with staff from several NCI divisions, including the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics and the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis. The NCI at Frederick has two main administrative offices: The Office of Scientific Operations and the Management Operations Support Branch.

The Frederick National Laboratory offers access to leading-edge scientific resources, such as the National Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility and the Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory. It operates two cGMP biopharmaceutical development facilities serving NCI and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
