Top service official, responsible for all world-wide Coast Guard activities, and oversees 41,700 active-duty military; 7,800 reserve military part-time employees; 8,300 civilian full-time employees; and 31,000 civilian auxiliary volunteers.

Second in command, directly oversees Coast Guard's senior operational and mission support commanders, as well as Headquarters staff, and serves as service chief in absence of the Commandant.

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard

Master Chief Jason M. Vanderhaden

MCPOCG Vanderhaden assumed the duties as the 13th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard on May 17, 2018. Master Chief Vanderhaden is the senior enlisted member of the Coast Guard and the principal advisor to the Commandant on all enlisted personnel matters.

Chaplain of the Coast Guard

Captain Thomas J Walcott

Chaplain Walcott reported as 11th Chaplain of the Coast Guard in April 2018. CAPT Walcott advises the Commandant on religious support, promotes the well-being of all personnel, manages Navy Chaplain Corps assigned to the Coast Guard to ensure the Coast Guard family receives the full continuum of pastoral care.
