Table Column Descriptions

Dataset: A dataset in this table primarily represents a suite of model data output that has been run with a given numerical model. As code of a numerical model slowly changes, the model’s name usually remains the same. When changes are significant enough to a given model, it is sometimes given a new name. Some datasets with large periods of record have their code fixed over time for a consistent approach to climate monitoring and diagnostics.
Coverage: Datasets in this table can have multiple nests within larger domains. The coverage shown for each dataset in this table represents the largest domain available for each dataset.
Resolution: Each dataset listed in the table can have several spatial and temporal resolutions depending upon the model output product. The spatial resolution shown represents the smallest horizontal grid for the majority of the dataset. The temporal resolution given for each dataset represents the typical model output time interval for the majority of the data. The temporal resolution shown does not necessarily represent the model’s run-cycle frequency. More information on the varying horizontal, vertical, and temporal resolutions is provided in each dataset’s description.
Period of Record: The period of record shown in this column represents the range of initial times available for each dataset. More information on the range of dates available for a given dataset can be found in each dataset’s description.
