Chief Information Officer
Mr. Rein serves as the Chief Information Officer for U.S. International Finance Corporation (DFC). He previously served in the same role at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) before its transformation to DFC.
Mr. Rein came to OPIC from The National Institutes of Health (NIH) where he held the position of Chief Information Officer for the Office of Research Services and Office of Research Facilities. Mr. Rein implemented and coordinated IT programs that included planning, budgeting, and overseeing information systems and risk management strategies for mission critical systems supporting clinical research and campus shared services. More importantly, Mr. Rein implemented NIH’s IT policies, procedures, and systems to ensure effective, cost-efficient information resources management planning, acquisition, performance measurement, and improvement to security to support and advance their mission. Mr. Rein served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer with the U.S. Department of Justice and Branch Chief at the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to his public service, Mr. Rein developed and executed board-based integrated strategies to align organizational business requirements with technology deliverables in the private sector for numerous commercial and non-profit entities including MCI Telecommunications, Virginia Hospital Center, and Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. He has extensive international experience in Spain and Portugal with Ono Communications, and in developing countries with a Washington, D.C.-based NGO.
Mr. Rein earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems from Bellevue University and an Associate’s degree in Biology from Montgomery College. Mr. Rein possess COR Level 2 Certification.
